Leprechaun Returns (2018)

If we rated the "Leprechaun" series by production values, "Leprechaun Returns" would probably be at the top. And since this isn't a horror series known for any other high qualities, this Syfy reboot of sorts probably hovers around first place anyway. Not that it's actually all that good, but as tongue-in-cheek, brain-off splatter slashers go, this one is at least bearable. In it we see the Leprechaun of old return from the dead, killing off series returnee Ozzie (Mark Holton) before turning his attention to protagonist Lila (Taylor Spreitler), who we learn is the grieving daughter of Jennifer Aniston's character from the first movie and possessor of the gold her ma didn't feel like returning to Warwick Davis all those years ago. As for Warwick, he's nowhere to be found in "Leprechaun Returns", with the vertically-challenged villain this time being portrayed by Linden Porco. Porco is, predictably, no Warwick Davis, but at least he cracks wise and hasn't received the same treatment the character did in the abortive "Leprechaun: Origins." This movie still isn't what fans have been clamouring for over the last two decades but, with its cheesy kill sequences and surface-level wit, "Leprechaun Returns" is certainly one of the more well-made flicks in the franchise.
