Victor Pascow is so poorly integrated into this version of "Pet Sematary" that they really needn't have bothered. Besides that single glaring issue, however, this was a surprisingly effective — and affecting — adaptation that didn't pull it's punches half as much as I expected it too. It's still not nearly as visceral as Mary Lambert's 1989 version, but for a modern edition it surpasses lukewarm expectations. This is a horror film with great heart and suspense, as well as a trio of excellent performances from Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz and John Lithgow, that builds to a fittingly ominous conclusion.
