A surprisingly good found footage flick that finds a pair of friends' attempt to make a movie on the fly during a cross-country road trip interrupted by an otherworldly entity that looks kinda like the apparitions that show up in the "Oxenfree" videogame, "Spiral Drive" packs a lot of laughs and a fairly decent storyline into its hour or so of action. It helps that the two leads, wooden acting and all, are an enjoyable twosome to watch navigate the supernatural, as they utilise their own knowledge of filmmaking and paranormal podcasting to fight back against their shadowy foe. There's not much suspense or even any real scares to be had here; it's just a fun good time that showcases a small crew's ability to make something entertaining on a shoestring budget. And sometimes that's enough.
