The fact that literally anybody can make a found footage movie with little or no cost is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it allows filmmakers who don't necessarily have the right financial backing to make a movie anyway -- and often those movies are good. On the other hand, it allows for movies like "The House on Mansfield Street", a dull sub-"Paranormal Activity" story of an aspiring filmmaker (Matthew Hunt), who moves from London to Nottingham and soon finds himself hounded by seemingly supernatural occurrences. It's a movie with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer and not of the impact, in which a bad actor reacts unconvincingly to cheap effects and imagery that aren't scary in the slightest and aren't even well done in the context of no-budget found footage horror. And was that supposed to be a twist ending? Because everybody saw it coming and I'm sure nobody cared. It feels a little mean to take shots at Richard Mansfield's work considering the narrow margins he's clearly working in, but he does seem to crank out a lot of these kind of movies (several of which appear to be named after himself) so I think he'll survive me saying that this particular one is utter crap.
